Testing
For Mold:
Mold testing is a detailed process. All buildings have some mold. The problem is when there is excessive amounts of a toxic strain of mold present.

To determine the seriousness of your problem we perform three steps:
(1) We inspect the property for any visable signs of mold. The attic, basement or crawl space, wall cavities, HVAC system, furniture and closets. During the inspection we gather samples of any visable substance found. If no visable signs are present we gather an air sample by means of special spore gathering equipement. With these samples, cultures are grown that identify the types of molds that are present. The initial inspection of the building takes from 1 to 2 hours. The lab work requires 6 days.
(2) During the inspection we seek the cause of the mold growth. Mold needs food and moisture to grow. Your building is constructed of materials that the mold eats. Sheetrock, wallpaper, carpet, plywood, furniture, ect. When moisture is present in sufficient quantities mold will grow. We determine why there is moisture present. Is there a hidden water pipe leak? Is water entering the basement? Is there a hidden roof leak? Are windows or doors leaking? Is the HVAC operating corectly?
(3) We set specific step by step guidelines to be followed to eliminate your mold problem. What repairs are needed to stop the moisture. What steps are needed to remove and clean the mold from the surfaces and air. Are special chemicals and equipement needed? Who are the special contractors that are needed?
You are then issued a detailed report by mail describing the type of mold found and the health effects of the mold, why the mold is present and the guidelines to remediate you mold problem.
Cost for residential Mold testing:
Mold Inspections must be paid at or before the time of the inspection.
CPI offers 3 different levels of Mold Inspection Services:
Mold Screen Inspection
Fee $ 500.00 (includes 2 samples)
Visual assessment of the entire dwelling, identification of any "red flags", sampling of "red flags", & lab analysis. Report indicating, * Type of Mold Present * Cause of the mold growth, * Remediation Protocol (this is what needs to be done to remove the contamination and keep it from returning)
Mold Survey Inspection
Fee $ 1,500.00 (includes up to 10 samples)
Detection of the presence of microbial problems in all readily accessible areas of the property, collection of appropriate data elements to enable remediation specifications to be produced, & lab analysis. Identify, determine cause, and provide corrective measures for all mold sources discovered in the entire house. Apropriate for Severe Mold Cases, Flooded Properties, Serious Health Issues, Insurance Claims
Mold Clearance Inspection
Fee $ 400.00
Designed to determine the effectiveness of remediation efforts and to document the absence of microbial problems before renovations begin. Includes Certificate of Clearance" or Protocol of additional remediation needed.
Additional Mold Sample Rates
Swab or Air Sample $ 50.00 each
Pricing can vary based upon Extent of Contamination, Location and Timeframe. At the time of your phone call I will be given a fee estimate.
CAUTION: There are many "testing" companies out there that also seek to perform the remediation work on your home. We have reviewed many, many cases where these types of "testing " companies have swayed the results in order to charge extensive fees for the cleanup.
We are an EPA Recommended, Licensed and Certified TESTING, REMEDIATION and Inspecting Company. We perform Remediation work according to EPA and IICRC Guidelines. We are only interested in true and accurate results so that you can make an informed discission.

Radon Gas Testing:
Radon Gas is present in every building in North Carolina. According to the EPA when the level of Radon exceeds 3pCi/l the level is considered dangerous for the occupants.
(1) We inspect the building for areas of entry of Radon Gas. This generally intells an inspection of the basement or crawl space areas.
(2) Special metered electronic equipement is left inside the building that gathers Radon Level readings for 48 Hours. This is important because Radon levels will rise and fall according to the weather outside.
(3) A report is issued that states the level of Radon found inside the building and the health effects of this level of exposure. We recommend steps to lower the level of Radon inside the building.
Cost for Residential Radon Testing: $125.00 to $250.00
CAUTION: There are many "testing" companies out there that also seek to perform the remediation work on your home. We have reviewed many, many cases where these types of "testing " companies have swayed the results in order to charge extensive fees for the remediation work.
